Female Leaders talk Game Changers at the Irish Tatler Academy
(May 23) The Irish Tatler Academy heard from 34 leading female businesswomen at the Irish Tatler Academy , May 23 at the Convention Centre, Dublin. Over 350 female delegates in attendance heard from speakers on the topic of “game changers in Ireland”.
Titled “Tomorrow’s Ireland Meet the Game Changer’s” the conference delved into what the games are in Ireland? what’s changed? and what still needs to change?
The brainchild of broadcaster and publishing entrepreneur Norah Casey the Irish Tatler Academy series has grown from an idea of bringing businesswomen together to share challenges, information and celebrate achievement. Now in its second year the Irish Tatler Academy also features a series of business breakfasts.
Speaking at the conference were leading lights Joan Burton TD Minister for Social Protection, Nora Owen Broadcaster and Former Minister for Justice, Carolan Lennon, MD of eircom Wholesale, Kathryn O’Donoghoe, Google, Jean O’Sullivan Manager of Female Entrepreneurship at Enterprise Ireland and Carmel O’Brien HR Director of Boots Retail Ireland.
“The theme for the second Irish Tatler Academy is: The future. We’ve named the conference Tomorrow’s Ireland: Meet the Game Changers because joining us today are the women who are pivotal to changing the landscape in Ireland. We heard from the women who I believe are game changers and thrashing out just what games need to change in Ireland for women to make a difference” commented host and Chairwoman Harmonia Publishing Norah Casey
Speaking at the conference Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton TD commented on the importance of women’s support for each other as integral ingredient for success in both business and politics. “It is in the interest of everyone in the country that women are in politics in Ireland”. She continues that “it is important that women support other women” and urges “As a woman to succeed it is important to step outside of your comfort zone”
Sponsored by eircom, Enterprise Ireland, Hyundai and Boots/No.7 The conference brought together women who have broken ground in their respective industries; the women who have helped to progress the way things are done and are forging new perceptions of an industry.
“We are delighted to support The Irish Tatler Business Academy. In the thrust of everyday business life it is very easy to lose sight of the incredible contribution Irish women are making to the overall business environment. Events like the Business Academy remind us of the very real and positive input women are making across all sectors each day. It also provides a great platform to learn, exchange ideas, debate issues and most of all to highlight the great support network that business women provide to each other”, said Carolan Lennon, Managing Director, eircom Wholesale
“Ensuring that Irish business women realise their full business potential is critical to Irish Economic prosperity and a major priority for Enterprise Ireland. Addressing the under-representation of female-led businesses that start a business and achieve considerable scale, requires a tailored, focussed approach in terms of support, personal development and networking opportunities” commented Jean O’Sullivan Manager of Female Entrepreneurship at Enterprise Ireland
