Norah Casey was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Magazines Ireland, the association of Irish magazine publishers at a ceremony in Dublin on Wednesday, 30 April, 2014
Norah is owner and Chairwoman of Harmonia, Ireland’s largest magazine publishing company, printing over four million magazines annually for the Irish, British and USA market and selling 2.6 million in the Irish market in 2013. Harmonia publishes the top three best-selling women’s magazines in Ireland – Irish Tatler, U magazine and Woman’s Way – along with a range of lifestyle and consumer titles such as Food&Wine, CookBook, Irish Tatler Man, Eat Out, Auto Ireland and Ireland of the Welcomes.
Broadcaster and publishing entrepreneur Norah Casey currently presents a weekly show, MindFeed, on Newstalk and recently finished filming the second series of The Takeover with RTE 2 – transforming business through staff mentorship. She also recently finished a documentary exploring issues around death and the Irish titled Way to Go which will be aired on RTE 1 in May. She is writing a book title Spark! with Penguin Ireland which is due to be published later in 2014.
She was anchor of the successful daily radio Breakfast Show on Newstalk until recently and co-hosted the Today show on RTE 1 every Friday during the 2012/2013 season and is a former Dragon on Dragons’ Den.
A journalist and former nurse, Norah has been the Magazines Ireland Publisher of the Year no fewer than four times. She has served on numerous boards and is currently a member of the Press Council of Ireland, the London-based Women’s Irish Network and The International Women’s Forum. She is a former Chairwoman of Magazines Ireland.
Presenting the award, John Whelan, Chairman Magazines Ireland said that “Norah is one of Ireland’s most successful magazine publishers and an inspiration to us all in the industry.”
The award was presented at the annual Magazines Ireland conference, Publishing 360, which took place in Chartered Accountants House in Dublin.
